Padlet is a web-based application that can be used to post comments, links, files, and or images. It’s like a virtual Post-It. You can make the page private or share it with others so they can contribute to your Padlet wall. You can also change the background and wallpaper of your wall- making it more relevant to your content area or topic. Padlet can be used in a BYOD classroom as a way to engage students in a new topic or concept and access prior knowledge on the subject, right from their device. Students can post anonymously or you can have them include their names in the post. If the cluttered “freeform” space is too much for you, you can have all the posts appear in an organized stream making it easier to follow. Once a wall is created, you can share it on your social networks, export it as a PDF, Excel file, an image or a CSV file. You can also embed it on a website or blog, or you can generate a QR code for sharing on mobile devices.
Padlet in the Classroom
There are many ways teacher or even professional development facilitators can use Padlet in a BYOD setting. Here is a link to a padlet wall I created during a TCEA session on BYOD. If this visual seems like it's too busy for you, Padlet allows you to change the layout of the posts that students or participants make. Here are some specific ways you can use Padlet in the classroom.
